Will Hard says that feeling of childhood love has been ever present and always familiar…

I have a friend.  I love my friend.  I have loved my friend for as long as I can remember.

My love for my friend began as childhood love.  Unencumbered by action.  Only the pure feeling of love.  Somehow this feeling became my benchmark.  My definition of love.

This all encompassing love has a romantic component.  For a very short period of my very young life, I acted on this romantic component.  Passion emerged from romantic love.  The best rhyme I’ve ever made:  “So innocent at seventeen, our kisses such chaste libertine.”

My love for my friend has not always been a conscious part of my life.  But that feeling of childhood love has been ever present and always familiar.  Always ready to emerge.  In waking hours and in dreams.  It is, perhaps, at the core of all my feelings of love.

I have  a friend.  I love my friend.  I have loved my friend for as long as I can remember.
